How Energy Concepts Elevated Their Referral Process with GTR

Energy Concepts has been a trusted provider of energy efficiency solutions and home improvements since 1992, specializing in solar panel installations as a SunPower Elite Dealer. Referrals have always been a significant part of their business, accounting for approximately 40% of contracts. However, the process for collecting referrals was informal.

As Marketing Sales Manager Ryan Gutierrez explains, “In the past, we would just get referrals, you know, people would come into the office or talk with our sales representatives. Nothing really online other than submitting a referral through our web portal, which is pretty standard.”

But Energy Concepts wanted to improve the system. That’s when they decided to implement Get The Referral (GTR).

    With GTR, Energy Concepts could simplify the process and avoid the hassle of filing paperwork for the referral party. “With the 1099, we don’t have to file all the paperwork on behalf of the referral party! ” Ryan says. Not only does GTR save them time, but it also offers flexibility in how advocates (those sending referrals) choose to receive their rewards. The company can easily track the status of each payment, ensuring everyone is compensated fairly.

Before, they only rewarded referrals for a sold deal, but they found it beneficial to reward referrals for an appointment as well. This approach encourages homeowners to get the process started.

    GTR’s communication tools, like push notifications, have transformed how Energy Concepts interacts with its network. Ryan explains, “We are really excited to see how that kind of changes the dynamic of those referral relationships. Instead of having just the representative or the individual salesperson reaching out to them, we now have the ability to talk to them as a group through that push messaging system.”

Using these tools, Energy Concepts can send out notifications and promotions, enhancing engagement and encouraging more referrals. “It’s an engaging platform depending on how it’s executed. You can create great engagement with that customer and continue to build that referral relationship with them by utilizing the app,” Ryan adds.

Expanding the Reach
Energy Concepts was also excited about the ability to upload old contacts into the system, expanding their reach. This allowed them to continue building relationships with a larger base of customers and potential advocates.

Now, Energy Concepts’ referral program is fully automated, and their referral app is running. They are seeing great results and are eager to continue growing their business through the power of referrals.
